Don't let testing scare you

Well ,were further into the school year and there more work that we have to do but it seems like my biggest problem is testing so last week I told you guys that I was going to a anxiety lecture last Thursday with Bev Evans. It’s was a refreshing to know that I wasn’t the only person with this problem because I really thought I was the only goof troop that had this problem and felt the same way. If you’re having problems like once you get the test and you can’t remember your name, the feelings you may get when the other students are getting done before and there walking out and you feel like you’re not that smart because you’re still sitting there. Or maybe you have the problem like me where I know until that test is placed in front of me. She told us the key thing to do is to relax and get rid of the can't in your head. Imagine your on a beach or some where relaxing when you start feeling this way. Today is going to be my first day since the lecture so I’ll see how this works. One thing I would like to tell you guys don’t be embrassed if you’re the last one still sitting there do what’s best for you and block them out.
For one of my classes I also had to see a play and that play was called The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon. This was a small comedy of the story your were told as a child by only five actors. I took my girls and thought it was funny if you time you should go and check out the next showing is Oct 3 at 230. The second half is the best.

use your sources

Hopefully I haven’t discourage any of from going back to school. Hey I’m 34 and I thought I was old going back to school but walking the halls you meet and see all different ages of student you have the students that just graduated this May, middle age student and students you may think at that age you wouldn’t dare. Those students are the most fun to talk to because a lot of them have been through a lot and others just wanted something different. It really inspire me to see them because if there age didn’t matter when there in there 50’s I shouldn’t So if your out there letting that stop you because as they say age is nothing but a number.
This week I also learn at ICC where I attend there a lot of different programs to help with your homework. This week I’ve tried 3 different things they have there to help the students. The 1st one I tried was The Studio the studio is a program that they have build to help scatter brain students like me or students
Who need help with writing paper, coming up with topics anything you can come up with when it comes to writing a paper they can help you. I sat down with Justin he help me chose which topic I wanted to read write about. So if you’re a student at ICC check it out it really does help.
I also went to the Math Lab now any homework or questions you may have with your homework they have someone there to help you. I went there with a homework assignment and in 5 min I caught on to what It seems so difficult to figure out from reading the assignment at home. I went there and it like what that’s it.
Last but not least I went to talk to Tara Lindsay she a guide consular she helps a lot when you getting discourage about your class or just anything going on in school. She listens and gives you advise and looks for options for you. Like right now I experiencing a problem when I take a test I freak out. She suggested for me to take a anxiety testing workshop this Thursday I’m really looking forward to get. I’ll let you guys know next week how that goes. My advise this week is to try some of these programs they offer at school and it can make it a lot easier for you

1st week

So this was my first week of college. Boy was it a challenge for those of you that have never been to ICC (Illinois Central College) the East Peoria campus there is a work out there.  It's a pretty nice size parking lot and campus. The parking lot it self is horrible. I mean think I'm going to lose 50 pounds from it. "OMG"  My first three classes are back to back so I have to carry these hevey books. Looks like I'm have muscles in my arms to.

So I get to the campus and now I have to find my classes. HELP! after walking it seems like for ever I find my class. My advice to you is one you get your schedule make a trip to the campus and find your classes. That way you wont be like me looking like a lost puppy.I have to carry my schedule around everyday. At least if you do this you will have a route to your class.Well that's my advice for this week to talk to guys next week.

challenges of a returning sdent

My job laid me off, so it times to start a new career. So far it’s a lot of challenges without even starting class. My first c After being out school for fifteen and half years and keeping my same coop job from my senior year, I’m going back to school. hallenge is I’m mother of two, one in high school and the other in middle school. So I’m also juggling that as well. The next part of this big challenge is deciding your major you don’t, you don’t have to know then but you may want to know a field that way you can take the right classes. Then I had to take a placement test, ARE YOU KIDDING ME I haven’t taken a test in god knows how long. My advice to you is take your time no matter how many people you see getting up and leaving because the better you do the better chances you have in taking the classes you need to. Even if you don’t get the high score don’t worry because you can always retake or you can take the class that will prepare you for this class you need.

One of the major task is I had to register for school which wasn’t bad but make sure let me repeat make sure you turn in all the paper work they ask for because they will keep returning your paper work until you do. The sooner the better to make sure you’re approved. If just getting started for school is this stressful I hate to see what class is going to be like. I let you all know next week.
